What is a Land Acknowledgement"?

A land acknowledgement is a formal statement that recognizes and honors Indigenous Peoples and the existence of their traditional territories. This is not a statement existing in the past tense, as we continue to recognize the ongoing consequences of colonialism and the effects of land theft. With this land acknowledgement we express our gratitude towards those whose land we are on today. 

Haven’s Harvest operates within an area that sits on the traditional territories of the Wappinger, Paugussett, Quinnipiac and Hammonassets nations. We express our gratitude towards the Indigenous Peoples of these nations, both past and present, for stewarding this land and we will continue to honor and respect these nations’ cultures and heritage:
