Your time and effort make a direct difference in reducing food waste and supporting our community—come volunteer with us!

Interested in a recurring weekly opportunity? Come help out at our Bakery Warehouse Bread Rescue!

  • Join Haven’s Harvest for a rewarding volunteer opportunity in Orange, Connecticut, where we’ll be bagging and distributing 5,000 loaves of bread in a single morning! This rescued bread will go directly to support over 30 community organizations, ensuring that good food doesn’t go to waste and reaches those who need it most.

  • This is a great first rescue for anyone looking to get involved with Haven’s Harvest and learn more about how we recover and distribute surplus food. Volunteers will help sort, bag, and load bread to ensure it gets out efficiently.

  • Current volunteer opportunities:

    • Tuesdays and Fridays, 8 AM – 10 AM
      Location: Orange, CT

You’d like to work on your own schedule? No problem!

  1. Fill out and submit our Volunteer Agreement Form

  2. Email Roberto at roberto@havensharvest.org.

  3. Download the FRH app (iTunes or Google Play).

  4. Check out the rescue schedule in the area, including the donor site, receiving site, and specific details for both.

  5. Sign up for a run and rescue food!

  6. After you complete the run, close out the run the app. It will prompt you with questions like: How well did the run go? How much food did you rescue? Any comments?

Important things to keep in mind:

  • You can “adopt” a recurring run (because the timing suits your schedule) or simply register for a single run as you have availability.

  • If you “adopt” a run, you can modify the schedule to drop a run on a particular day when needed, while keeping the run in your schedule for the future.

  • For the sake of food safety, the delivery of the food is immediately after picking it up. Most runs take 30 minutes or less and donors and receivers will be very happy to see you!
